Is TruAPI the right alternative for you?
Choose based on the work you actually do. TruAPI is a strong fit for individual developers, learners, QA testers and support engineers who want to open Chrome, build a request and inspect the result without setting up a separate account.
| Need | TruAPI fit |
|---|---|
| Quick requests while reading browser-based documentation | Strong fit: the workspace runs inside Chrome. |
| Importing shared cURL examples | Supported for common cURL commands. |
| Reusable environments and collections | Supported, with workspace data stored in the browser profile. |
| Response assertions and JSON inspection | Supported through automated tests and response tools. |
| Centralized enterprise collaboration and governance | Consider a broader team platform if cloud collaboration, organization controls or enterprise administration are essential. |
What you get in the browser
- GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE and other common request workflows.
- Query parameters, headers, Bearer, Basic and API-key authentication.
- JSON, XML, raw text, form data and multipart file uploads.
- cURL import, environment variables, collections and searchable history.
- Automated response tests and tools for inspecting complex JSON.
Why local-first matters
TruAPI's surrounding workspace is designed to remain in the browser profile. Request tabs, drafts, history, collections and environments are stored locally, while authentication values are excluded from automatic tab, draft and history storage. Requests still go to the endpoints you choose, because that is necessary for an API client to function.
